NOVELL: Novell appoints Elis Nemes as Vice President for Europe, Middle East And Africa

JAN 28, 1999, M2 Communications - NOVELL Inc. -- Novell today announced the appointment of Elis Nemes as vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Nemes will report directly to Ron Heinz, senior vice president for worldwide sales, Novell. Effective from 1st February, 1999, he will be based at Novell's office in Bracknell, UK.

"Elis brings the experience and vision Novell needs as we continue to expand with our networking solutions into large corporations. It is great to have him on board", said Eric Schmidt, chairman and chief executive officer, Novell.

Elis Nemes joins Novell from Sun Microsystems, where he was vice president, sales operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to that, he founded Sun Microsystems' presence in the Nordic region from 1987 as vice president of the Northern and Eastern Europe. Under his 11 years of leadership Sun Microsystems established a leading market position in this region, particularly in the telecommunications and enterprise markets.

"I believe that Elis' background is ideal to help Novell, together with its partners, continue to expand its presence in the medium and large enterprise markets", said Ron Heinz, senior vice president worldwide sales, Novell.

Prior to joining Sun Microsystems Elis Nemes held positions as Nordic region director with U.S. electronics and IT companies Gould Electronics and Industrial Nucleonics Corporation.

"Through their award-winning directory services and directory-enabled networking technologies Novell is focused on helping its customers become network-ready for the 21st century. Elis Nemes holds a Master of Science Degree in Chemistry as well as degrees in Physics and Mathematics from Helsinki University, Finland. He has served on the Board of The Swedish Institute of Computer Science and as a member in several Swedish IT-councils.
