I've always wondered if big players use unusual option activity to trick the market into buying.

For example, if I owned 1,000,000 shares of MANU it would certainly be worth it to me to throw $10,000 or even $100,000 into an option position I know will expire worthless because it might generate buying interest to boost the shares up a few dollars.

Does this happen? Just curious...
