Opticon, huh? I'll check it out, Gary. Yes, I have experienced the same delays with the WSJ site and the internet generally. It's sad but after fighting traffic to get home from work, I find myself in a jam on the internet when I log on at home. The solution is private high bandwith networks like the one Warp 10 is presently constructing. The problem with the public internet is the old problem of the trajedy of the commons. It's only going to be fast as its worst bottle neck, and no one has an incentive to upgrade the system. Apparently more and more businesses are figuring out that they can send huge files via the internet and save on communications costs. This sort of abuse has got to stop.
