Lalit, my friend, I'm afraid the catastrophes in Costa Rica, and then the tornadoes in the deep south has wiped out gennys for a LOT of people, both sides of the border.
However the GOODNEWS is: you can construct one with a lawnmower motor, a car alternator, a deep cycle battery, a simple voltage regulator, and a supply of petrol cans. (Oh, load up on STA-BIL (a gasoline stabilizer). And rotate those petrol cans!
The truth is...the power that you generate can be stored in: deepcycle golf cart, marine, RV batteries, or gel cellss, even recycled ones out agm batts, or can be used directly, after inverted, from your storage source.
What's a good used mower going for? What's a decent rebuilt car alternator going for? What's a decent deepcycle battery going for? What's a decent inverter going for?
Then there's the old bicycle that you can buy solid rubber tires for and motigate around town when everyone else is walking(grin)
You'll be suprised what you can do with some ingenuity. BTW, some fellas on an inet list have reported success in finding 400AMP old style generators (still brand spanking new)that are still attached to 15 years ago welding technology equipment, in the backrooms of industrial suppliers that cater to that trade.
And they haven't jacked up the prices on those yet, b/c folks haven't thot to look THERE.
Just some ideas. In the meantime, there are always window screens to cut and measure for the top of your rainwater barrel, waterfilters, and hand pumps to procure! Don't forget that stash of 1999 heritage seeds, and some good perlite!
Now, CHOP CHOP, Lalit... O/49r |
