I don't know that I would call Paul "demented," because it is difficult to tell the real personality of the person behind the keyboard. However, Paul certainly makes comments that seem to be aimed at getting a rise out of people.
Based on what he tells us about his life, shocking folks is one of his great pleasures; consider the playground comments, his web page regarding his political views and assorted other topics, his apparent pride in being a "lewd" Mensa member, and even his comments about nude beaches are examples.
Note 1: I believe Paul's forays to the "playground" are meant to disturb the parent, not the kids. That story has been twisted...
Note 2: I personally don't have a problem with nude beaches, but a male talking about public nudity elicits a whole different set of responses than a female talking about public nudity. It ain't right, but that's the way it is.
No, I think Paul's comments are aimed to shock us and at first, I'm sure he likes the result. Many of us seem eager to rise to the bait. However, I do think it wears thin with him after a while and then he affects being a martyr for the cause. I for one don't buy it... and I am surprised that you do...
