Expect the following technology stocks to be among Friday's most actively traded issues: Broadcast.com, E*Trade, Infoseek, Lam Research, LSI Logic, Mercury Interactive, PeopleSoft, PRI Automation and Uniphase.
.
.
E*Trade Group Inc. (Nasdaq: EGRP)
Merrill Lynch may be gearing up to set up an online brokerage, BusinessWeek reported in its "Up Front" column, citing people familiar with the situation. The $64,000 question for E*Trade, Ameritrade Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: AMTD) and the other online brokerages: Can Merrill pull it off?

Keep in mind the trouble Barnes & Noble and Borders has trying to catch up to Amazon.com's business - life on the Web is tough and percarious and different from the land of brick and mortar.

E*Trade rose 15 15/16 to 99 1/2 and Ameritrade added 5 3/4 to 66 3/4.
