Thanks for the response. I find it particularly interesting that some of these stocks could be at the beginning of a bull, while others are at the end of a bear. But I suppose it would make sense that a bluechip like SLB could have begun it's bull run first.

I can think of a couple of reasons. First, merrill may be wrong (in fact, I guarantee nobody can now predict RON's business in 2000, or anyone else's for that matter -- that's why estimates always get revised about 100 times). Second, RON is a large component of the OSX, and many funds feel more comfortable buying the "index." Look at the relative valuation for SLB, as an example. At this point, I'm actually much more uncomfortable with RIG seeing all those contracts expiring this year.
