Novell: Back From the Dead (NOVL)
Thursday, January 28, 1999

Option advisor Bernie Schaeffer says fallen angel Novell
(NOVL) "was practically left for dead" after a four-year
downtrend from March 1993 to mid-1997. But he saw signs of
life in the shares after the firm hired Eric Schmidt away
from Sun Microsystems and made him CEO. Schaeffer says
Schmidt refocused Novell on Internet products for work
environments.

"The change appears to be paying off," Schaeffer says. The
stock has outpaced the Nasdaq composite since February 1998,
including the index's impressive post-October 1998 rally.
Schaeffer also notes that stock in Novell trends along its
10-week moving average, which has supported the shares since
October 1998.

IBES International says Novell has beaten analyst earnings
estimates for the last five quarters. But despite this
stellar performance, only seven analysts cover the stock.
"This lack of coverage is stunning, compared to other
networkers," Schaeffer says. He recently recommended buying
the January 2000 20 call (LNOAD).
