B: Cisco MGX 8850 Receives ComNet/DC '99 New Product Achievement Award; Cisco
Garners Top Honors for Second Year in a Row

SAN JOSE, CALIF. (Jan. 29) BUSINESS WIRE -Jan. 29, 1999--Cisco Systems
announced today that its MGX(TM) 8850 wide-area switch won the highly
coveted "Best New Network Infrastructure Product Award" at ComNet/DC
'99. Winners were chosen by non-exhibitor attendees who cast their
votes during the show.

The New Product Achievement Awards were given for the year's best new
products in networking, data and telecommunications. Cisco's MGX 8850
was selected as a finalist earlier this week, and then announced as the
winner in the network infrastructure category at the New Product
Achievement Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, January 27th. Category
finalists were chosen by a panel of judges consisting of
representatives from the trade and business press, industry research
firms, the financial community and academia. Products were evaluated on
the basis of innovation, industry contribution, integration with
current product lines, migration capabilities and return on investment.

"With over 300 exhibiting companies introducing new products and
services at ComNet, we are honored to be chosen for this prestigious
award," said Kevin Kennedy, senior vice president of Cisco's Service
Provider Line of Business. "Cisco's MGX 8850 provides a new-world
platform that offers the flexibility service providers need to be first
to market with the services their customers demand."

Cisco's MGX 8850 wide-area switch joins Cisco's portfolio of IP+ATM
solutions, integrating Cisco IOS(R) software IP capabilities and
carrier-class ATM in a single platform. Featuring the industry's widest
breadth of service interfaces, the MGX 8850 switch enables delivery of
a complete portfolio of differentiated service offerings.

This is the second year that Cisco has been honored at ComNet, having
also won a New Product Achievement Award at ComNet '98 for the Gigabit
Switch Router (GSR) 12008 in the Internetworking Technology category.
