Medtronic gets FDA nod for Kappa 700 line January 29, 1999 12:21 PM MINNEAPOLIS, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Medical device maker Medtronic Inc. said Friday that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved for marketing its Medtronic.Kappa 700 implantable pacemaker series. A pacemaker is an electronic device implanted in the body and connected to the heart by wires. It monitors the heart's beating and sends a mild shock to the heart muscle if it starts to beat too slowly. The Kappa 700 line was launched in the European market last year. Analysts initially expected it to gain U.S. FDA approval as early as December. Improving on earlier lines, the Kappa 700 can regulate its output on its own and store historical cardiac data to be downloaded later by a physician
