Carl, Press release, AMD's CEO J.W. Sanders said AMD will declares special dividend consisting of a 30 day all expenses paid trip to the Mani Lani, Hawaii to all share holders of record as of Jul 15, 1996.
In a unpresidented move which stuned Wall Street, Sanders said he wanted to reward all the loyal shareholders who stuck with AMD through its darkest hour. He also said he was considering selling 200,000 AMD shares to pay for one hell of a lauau for all thoses planning to attend. Meanwhile in an effort to keep up with the competition Intel's CEO Andy Grove, caught off guard by AMD's announcement, announced a cost cutting move, saying they would use part of their $8 billion war chest to try to aquire the hotel to prevent the party from happening, When asked to comments about the move the blush in the face Captian of the Silicon Industry replied we had to something, we don't have enough money to match sending all of our 800 million shareholders to Hawaii.
Just in case someone out there thinks this is a real story.
