Research dated prior to September 1, 1998 was prepared by an entity that was acquired by BancBoston Robertson Stephens Inc. ASDV reported Q4:98 (December) results with solid upside in EPS and a shortfall in software license revenues. Software license revenues, though right in-line with our model, were short of 'Street' expectations by perhaps $300-400K. We acknowledge that the shortfall in software license revenues versus 'Street' expectations represents a surprising departure from the past. This could be interpreted negatively by the 'Street' with a cautionary tone moving forward, with the potential to cause weakness in the stock. However, the strong book of business in Q4:98 positions ASDV to potentially deliver a sequentially up quarter in Q1:99.
