Gary, This is a very competitive business(MP) and only the vendor that can delivery the product in volume, on time , with the right price and competitive in performance can win. So far, the only company that can do this seems to be Intel. True and not true. There are exceptions. K6-2 has become the best CPU for retail. The Cyrix MediaGX has become the x86 CPU of choice for information appliances, Window's terminals, etc. Server chips are relatively low volume, and Samsung has the capacity to fill a substantial portion of that volume, if their manufacturing is going well (as The Register implies.)
