Actually, I am amazed that the House "managers" have not offered the simple solution of tying a rock to Bill Clinton and throwing him into the Potomac River - if he floats he is lying, if he sinks he is telling the truth. But, with respect to the Witch Trials, my recollection from history class is that they did not depend on the use of torture, but rather on fantastically false accusations made in an atmosphere of personal fear and hysteria.
