OT for Emmo
Hi Emmo, I get a giggle out of your correctness. Then too, trying to estimate Japanese competition with a general delving into historical, racial issues is not going anywhere and must be shelved as off topic, as was your latest response. The irony of all this is that the Japanese, generally, do not share your squeamishness about these matters. They are quick to recognize differences in culture and/or race. I'm put to mind of a state visit by(then)premier Nakasone which took place 12 years ago. Surrounded by reporters, he was asked why, in his opinion, did the US school system lag behind the Japanese system. He responded, naively, that the minority population was a hindrance(not exact quote). Boy, did he catch hell from the press and US officials! He apologized the next day. Probably still doesn't know what hit him.
