No, but when the arrears reach 100,000,000 dollars without a single penny to show for it you get mining man of the year. When you reach a billion they put you in the hall of fame.

Mining men of repute sneer with condescension at the names of Billy Sol Estes and Bernie Cornfeld. Such rank amateurs are held in contempt. The mark of a mining man is that after he shakes hands with you, he shows you your watch that you used to wear and asks if you like it. He will then get you to turn over you RRSP, a few house payments, some gift money for your family and the savings bonds for his new drilling project. It can't miss. The projections by the geophysicist of world renown doesn't just suggest a huge deposit, it pretty well confirms it. He will not entertain mere millions. Petty sums are beneath him. Its the joint ventureships with governments that makes his eyes glaze over.. He is letting you in on it as you seem like the kind of friend that deserves a break..

Of course the project doesn't quite make it.. the shares have fallen to a fraction of what you paid.. ruthless gangsters in war torn lands have made a mockery of your savings.. the mining man was caught too.. he barely survived.. but survive he did..you can't blame him.. and you reserve a little bit of your heart for his next deal.. the excitement of which, he guarantees you, will be electrify the market.
