Pat, I added to my position today. I certainly didn't see this coming. I was hoping for a Nasdaq listing but didn't expect it to come this way. I am looking forward to learning what the analysts have to say. So far, every press release/article I have seen speaks highly of the merger (no surprise).

On the tax issue for Canadian investors, I heard from a relative in Ottawa today that a local radio station was doing a phone-in show and discussing the merger. Apparently, several callers had expressed their concern about the tax/RRSP ramifications of the merger. This prompted somebody from JDS to call in and set the record straight. (TSE listing for the "exchangeable" shares). I think the merger announcement could have been made more clear...and could have allowed me to get more sleep! :-)

Something that both bothered me and surprised me was that one of the reports/articles listed on YAHOO mentioned in a matter of fact fashion that the merger had been rumoured between the two companies for a couple of weeks and had driven up the price of JDS and UNPH shares. News to me. I can tell you, if there was just a sniff of any merger rumour, I would have been buying big time. Oh well, I'll have to wait until the next merger.... Newbridge perhaps?!

Cheers!

Chris
