The deepest secret of life is that life is not a process of living, but a process of dying. Every day some cells die and are not replaced.
Every day we lose some memories and distort others. One day we wake up and do not know who we are. We have forgotten everything. The meat cart comes, and we are knocked in the head to serve as Soylent Green. We become food for worms. Maybe many years later, the earth will grow a little greener where we lie, but no one who remembers anything of ours will be alive. The real secret of life is to seize the tiny s;ice of today that lies between yesterday and tomorrow. The secret is to love someone or something so well that their lives become part of you. It doesn't really matter very much whom you love -- except some you may have sex with and others not. Love is like a flower -- it returns the attention you put into it. Water, food, and cultivation are all necessary. But most of all love itself is the food of love. Without love, most people find life is not worth living. With love, one can concentrate on the happiness of someone not one's self. It is important not to pay attention to other people's judgment in the choice of lovers. One love's the one one's with if one is wise. One becomes two if one is lucky.
