.<<<then you would
have missed out on the move in ALLAIRE(which i did not buy)

Yes you are right but I play percentages....

1 out of 20 internet IPOs actually go up in the 3 days after they IPO..(this is a rough estimation, just by observation) so Im not going to try to shoot for that 5% winning percentage.

ALLR, anything with a 2-3M float has a chance to do anything depending on the word of mouth. I was in UBID about a week after it IPO's, and traded it 4 times on the way from 70 to 180. Only reason is the tiny float, not because it was a market leader or even a decent company.

My only point is, something like ALLR is an exception to the rule. If you like a new company that has IPO'd and it has run up 200-300% or something ridiculous, wait a week for everyone who takes profits to clear out and then buy in...

I'd rather miss out on that 1 out of 20 internet IPO that does not fall the following 3-5 days after it IPOs, rather than lose on the other 19.

Just my opinion, everyone has different strategies. Plus I believe you can trade these more often during the days, while most who work during the day (which is this thread's strategy) can't watch it minute by minute... so this is a more dangerous strategy for any person who cannot monitor the stock minute by minute.
