Hi gypsy,

Well, I'm glad that you "took the big step" and got into snowshoeing...(-:

And yes, depending on the snow conditions, I usually snowshoe around our farm stomping down the snow in preparation for x-country skiing.

There is a very secluded conservation area that I like to go to for x-country skiing because some kind person seems to always go there to snowshoe through the forests around a lake. Nobody seems to hike or ski there... except for this lone snowshoer whom I've yet to meet (and thank!)...

BTW, what are your snowshoes like? What materials, etc? Also, I meant to ask you about the snowshoes that you mentioned that family members used to make. Were they made from a single steamed and bent piece of wood with a round toe, or were they made from 2 separate pieces joined at the toe and heel area so that they are pointed on both ends? Just curious... (Incidentally, some of the commercial snowshoe makers also made lacrosse sticks because the "technology" was almost the same).

Croc...;-}>
