Bbruin,
Your question about what if you can't find the shares to average up is exactly the reason one would short Friday instead of waiting til say the gap-up Monday or Tuesday. You have in your mind an idea of where you believe the stock price will end up in a certain time-frame, you wait til the stock is high enough above what you see that price to be yet not what you think the stock will top out at and begin your short position there in small intervals. Therefor you are almost sure to find stock and if you cannot short at the perceived top because of lack of shares then you still have a potential profitable position.
I'm not sure but I have been told that if you have an account outside of the US that you do not have to borrow shares to short. I know that Anthony has an account outside of the US and he probably shorts at will from there.

BTW-we're not on opposite sides. You hopefully will sell at a profit as hopefully will I. I just do it backwards.

PS- If you live in Canada you really should start shorting BB's. 90% of them are scams.
