While I'm not sure that I agree with the statement 'Cisco virtually owns DSL deployments', I have to disagree with your statement that Cisco isn't selling any DMT modems. Check out this link:

They certainly aren't lying about DMT support. It's not wise to think that you can't make DMT products without 'off the shelf' silicon. I know that Amati communications (the guys who held all the patents on DMT - now part of TI) used to do their DMT with DSPs and ASICs. The guys that were making the chips (Motorola) were coming to THEM for the technology. My point is, if you sit around and wait for chip vendors to come out with what you need, you will be left behind...
