Ken,

Did you catch this article in the Washington Post?

HOUSE IS WARNED ON Y2K REPAIRS

A new report on the "Y2K Bug" turns the table on House Republicans ...

... One draft plan showed such testing would continue until DEC. 31, which the IG said "is extremely risky, as it leaves no time for implementation of renovated systems and no margin of error."

That time line also would mean some systems might not be ready by the start of the next budget year, or fiscal year 2000, which starts OCT 1.

[ROFLMAO ... finish testing ... 3 months AFTER Fiscal Year 2000 starts???]

In addition to the computer systems that track assets and property purchases, the IG report listed the payroll system for members and the systems that provide members with information on federal grants and contracts as facing substantial Y2K risks. The IG recommended that the House develop contingency plans.

LOL - Bet their "contingency plan" will be to have extra cash on hand to meet payroll.

Who else announced that they were planning on doing this? Montgomery County, MD? Was it the SBA who recommended that small businesses have extra cash on hand during critical period? Wonder what the BIG businesses are gonna do?

Wonder how much of that extra $50 billion Treasury Management Department is printing is gonna be available to John Q. Public ... to take out in small increments, over a period of time ... as the National Red Cross recommends?
