Pricing issue is already fixed. Check out what you get for the same money (higher speeds, built in SCSI, built in sound, etc). But I think the problem now is compatibility with Windows software base. Even if grossly exaggerated, it is significant for some. As you point out, Apple has lost the cool leading edge image. They need to create excitement on a unique attribute that is easily understood (the great OS advantages that currently exist are too subtle for a non-user, such as drag-and-drop). This is tough! Perhaps being a better Java/Net client?
