As to how SPCT traded in 40's and even 50's, their IPO came at a time when coming PCS "revolution" was all the rage. They did very good dog and pony, were featured in Red Herring magazine etc. Basically at that time it seemed that they had very high barriers to entry in the specialized PCS amplifier market (manufactured their own high performance semiconductors etc.). They make a multi-carrier PCS amplifier that analysts felt would command a very high premium and would eventually be used in most if not all PCS base stations. However, the barriers to entry turned out to not be as high as people thought (this is basically inevitable in the RF business). Competitors were able to get some business with PCS manufacturers using less sophisticated designs at lower prices. Also I think some guys such as MOT are manufacturing their own amplifiers rather than sourcing from merchant suppliers such as SPCT. SPCT first experienced big drop in sales, then has lowered prices to take back the business.

Back in one piece from the Bangkok fleshpots (didn't indulge, more risky than tap water).
