Gameboy & Papaya; are you guys saying that ''Big Oil'' created this crisis ?
I'm not sure I'm following what you guys are thinking here ?
Please expand - interesting stuff here... I'm no International Political expert, nor an economist - but I think nothing more simple, than 2 years of abnormally warm weather, OPEC over production and a collapsing Asian demand - all simultaneously happening....
Coincidental - bad luck imho; the more I analyze it... - no conspiracy theories, or intent from anyone ...
Now; how the game plays out here - that is another story... I think that Greenspan & Co. are trying to walk a fine line here. They like low commodity/crude prices as it allows them to reflate/liquify Global economies without triggering inflation - their big boogie man... But, if Crude prices are too low; it could trigger collapses by the Crude producing nations, and/or political & social instability. Personally; I think Greenspan took advantage of a window of opportunity in a low price commmodity enviroment to play his hand... However, a gradual return to normal crude prices is now in everyones best interests. I think the Big Oil Co's are doing what they have to, that the Saudi's are doing what they have to; and that the Drillers and Service companies are doing what they have too.... No conspiracy theory controllers, or masters here; merely opportunists, and manipulators - they will try to sway the situation to their individual advantage - numerous power struggles currently; but all from an opportunist angle, not from a conspiracy by design one...imho. API/IEA #'s get manipulated, OPEC quota, reserve numbers get manipulated etc... the ''rats'' are all running here - who finds the cheese ? - now that's the bet !
Personally; I don't think that longterm ''anyone'' - Greenspan included, can beat ''Mother Nature'' - or manipulate the historically powerfull cyclical nature of commodity cycles. Yes; the cure for low Oil prices - is low Oil prices; and irregardless of the machinations of mice, or men (OPEC, or Greenspan, or the Major Oils) Crude Oil will return to its norm.... a spike down - creates a spike up imho; just a matter of when, not if... |
