E, fascinating. I just started taking classes at George Mason in the Conflict Resolution department. I have to do a research paper in my "Conflict and Culture" class. I am tempted to do one on the "perception" by judges, lawyers and other courthouse regulars that Middle Easterners lie under oath and their testimony cannot be trusted. I have difficulty with the veracity of Middle Easterners, myself, and have heard solemn declarations by Western lawyers that Muslims believe that they only have to tell the truth to other Muslims. But, I fear that the topic may be too controversial. I am glad to see that you have experienced, first-hand, situations in which the perception of veracity is subject to cultural shaping.
