PERFUMANIA, INC. APPOINTS RACHMIL LEKACH PRESIDENT OF INTERNET SUBSIDIARY MIAMI, Fla., January 6, 1999 -- Perfumania, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRFM), the nation's largest perfumery chain, announced today the appointment of Rachmil Lekach as President of its newly formed Internet subsidiary, Perfumania.com.
The Company recently announced that it will open a website to cross market between its more than 290 retail stores and the Internet.
Mr. Lekach joins Perfumania.com from Ocean Reef Capital Management where he was Chief Executive Officer. He has substantial experience in the fragrance industry and was co-founder and former Chief Operating Officer of Perfumania, Inc, and President and Director of Parlux Fragrances, Inc.
In announcing the appointment, Ilia LeKach, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Perfumania, said, "Rachmil Lekach understands our business and the growth potential our Internet store brings to the Company. His experience domestically and with international affiliates will be instrumental in helping us implement this growth strategy."
Perfumania.com expects to have its website, www.perfumania.com, in operation by February 1, 1999, in time for Valentine's Day, a key marketing holiday. The Company is currently building a special web warehouse within its 140,000 square foot facility in Miami.
In accepting the new position Rachmil Lekach said, "Perfumania.com is positioned to become the leading online discount retailer of perfumes and the dominant E-Commerce force in fragrances, by taking advantage of its major name recognition."
