Don't give up on Perio just yet. I think you'll be seeing your dentist a lot less in the not-too-distant future. In my opinion, the problem is that they don't have the advantage of Israel's computer industry, which enjoys a lot of favorable attention from the global market. Just as Blue Square (the local supermarket chain) made a killing on Wall Street, I expect that other non-tech companies will be taking similar leaps and bounds in time. Perio is simply too small right now to make the same impact.
As to the Israeli cybertechs, I'll repeat what I told Lloyd Bloom. These stocks must not be watched -- or judged -- in terms of daily performance; they're intended only for the medium- to long-term investor. It's a great market for the patient investor who isn't looking for immediate returns. CIMTF is a perfect example -- fabulous company and stock overall. I convinced a friend of mine to buy last summer, and, despite the fluctuation, she's made a nice profit. As for VocalTec, I'm afraid I tend to be rather biased where they're concerned. The CEO is a very close friend, and I've watched the company grow from anonymity to its current status. Although they went public too early, and suffered the consequences last year, the forecast for '97 is excellent. Trust me, the CEO (and everyone else in the company) is doing EVERYTHING to keep their investors happy.
Best of luck and regards, Timna |
