I believe that within six to nine months the demand for all broadband products will far exceed the capacity to produce these products. This will create great margins for these products.
The DSL companies have been so badly burned by the RBOCs deliberate underspending in the last two years that they abolished much of their ramping capacity that had been built up at the end of 97 for anticipated deployment in 98. The RBOCs wanted to milk their T1 lines dry before offering cheap ADSL solutions.
Now the ADSL companies are still gun shy because of the lack of integrity they experienced in RBOC management teams in the past two years. ADSL companies and their investors have severed severly because of RBOC greed and lack of foresight. They will not ramp up until the contracts are signed. WSTL was run into the ground by these tactics.
