The big change for me this month was a result of all the trading you and I did together, Berney - I've aggregated all my telco stox - they were spread out: some I thought of as "TECH-", others as "EURO-", etc. And now I have them as "TLX - TelcoStox", and watch them as one group. I still consider TEL-EQUIP and CEL-EQUIP as "TECH", though.

>We got some folks on SI that I respect that are placing serious bets that the market is going down. It just doesn't fit...

January started off in an exuberant way - EuroStox jumped a lot week 1. Then Brazil tanked and everybody over-sold week 2. All during weeks 3 and 4, earnings churnings propelled many large-cap tech stox to split territory, but most other stocks just drifted lower.

Optimum strategy on Week 1 would have sold JAN covered CALLs on BKX.X, RLX.X and DRG.X underlying holdings (or MID.X index); and bought DELL LEAPS with the proceeds taken in. The short CALLs would have expired worthless week 3; the DELL LEAPS would have doubled by (now) Week 4.

Let's rewind and we'll all do that (^_^)

...my gut is telling me to go long MID.X - S&P400 MIDCAP Index.

as you might say... " we'll see ! "
