I don't know that I agree with that (not for lightfoot specifically, but for most people in general). I don't use Level II, and I do pretty good. The broker part is absolutely correct, though. Moving to Level II is good if that is your skill set, your trading style, and you understand how to use it and are aware of its inadequacies. Paying attention to the granularity of the intraday trades can obscure more important market movements.

Any tool's worth is directly related to an individuals ability to use them well. My response tends toward, "If you are ready for Level II, or Options, or Commodtities or Futures, you will know it." And if you are ready, then Zora's post is a good answer
