Saju;

Th hard drive in my Dell desktop crashed this past week. I fully expected that I'd have to replace the drive myself since I purchased this pc in July 1997. I called Dell anyway to check and was told that my pc was still under warranty( 2 years ) for parts and service( cool ). A Dell contract tech called a day later to schedule a time he could come by and install the new drive. SInce he couldn't make it here until this coming Monday, I installed a spare drive myself. This took a couple hours to do, including formatting and software installation. So, either way, this is not that complex of a situation. I think your friend might want to give Dell another call and inquire about having one of their service contractors install the drive for him/her. Something does not seem right with the information your friend received.

Regards;
JT
