Richie: Although Kumar would probably hate to be labelled "typical" this quote may be typical of what many analysts think:

"Long term, if Compaq can improve on its earnings predictability, stability and quality, it should be able to support a market multiple valuation," said Ashok Kumar, a Piper Jaffray analyst, in a report."

If he was my student and that was his weekly essay I would ask him what did he mean by "predictability, stability and quality" - it leaves a lot of scope for the reader's imagination and a lot of wriggle room for him. And what does he mean by "a market multiple" - what market multiple?

Like Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady, he means "Why can't a COMPAQ (woman) be like a DELL (man)?"
