Robbie, heck, sometimes a three legged horse wins a race. But it isn't a smart bet. I talking since '91, MB, the "long haul." If CPQ was a two year-old when I bought it, it would still be kicking butt as a 10 year-old today. Hardly one race. As for being a smart bet, I don't know. I'm probably no smarter than I ever was, but my portfolio doubling every year makes me feel smarter <ggg>.
At least with DEC they added services to their mix so they make up revenues the way IBM does.
I hope EP & EM have been taking good notes on how good IBM is at adding to shareholder value. I won't argue on the "fluff stocks" issue. I'll just just say the smart guys and gals are recognizing that fluff or not, these stocks are going up, and are profiting handsomely. Other people, who aren't profiting so handsomely, are screaming "fluff" and avoiding the stocks. Betcha a dollar CPQ sees 60 before 35. Wanna bet?
