Jim, hi. I watched the 50 Years War PBS thing too. This festering mess is a frustrating festering mess. I think part of the reason that is so is because America has never had the nerve to do what is right. I do not believe in terrorism as a tool. It seems the Israelis are and have been since the 2nd war, squatters. Violent ones. With much of their weaponry and support coming from us. Since our government perennially insists the Israelis are in the right, and supplies them, I try to be sympathetic to understanding "why." In thirty years of watching, I've never seen behavior that convinces me they are in the right. But frankly, I disapprove of American money paying for them to kill people defending and strengthening a position they obtained immorally.
