Hello mick;
Without being too facetious here, I think you do not understand Barrick at all. They more than anyone knows exactly what they are doing, and when their sights are focused, they go the whole nine yards, I cannot recall "ANY" takeover that they have initiated where they have stood down??
Other sharks?? in this business understand this, a letter campaign will create a bit of amusement to the denizens of the Barrick empire??
I feel that what Adolf Lundin has done with the PP, could be a necessary stalling tactic,(besides giving ARP the cash to hammer away) and in the end may have cause and effect to up the ante from Barrick.
The whole reality of it says that any competing bid from any other major could be driven so high by Barrick that it could make the other company vulnerable??
This is a high stakes poker game, and I had a good chuckle at whoever suggested Barrick would be backed into a corner?? Your dealing with the great white shark of all the sharks in this business??
Don't forget when sharks get into a feeding frenzy, and one of their own gets accidentally wounded, the others quickly react to the smell of blood and consume their own??
I think this has a part in this scenario, as simplistic as it may sound, when you are sitting on the top of the hill with the most cash in hand and the best line of credit, it is a daunting task for some other to waltz in and tempt their fate??
I'm afraid that this scenario has something to do with this play, as of now there are no other competing bids, which is sad to say the least??.....................as has been demonstrated by the Lundins, they have brought many to the table (ie confidentality aggreements), but as of yet they cannot make them eat??
