Edwarda,

<<Because of the exigencies of reproduction, we may be dealing with two persons of equal rights simultaeously.>>

Yes, we are dealing with two individuals and they both have equal rights to life. But one's phantom right to privacy cannot mean the death of the other is legal. The whole right of privacy issue came out of the roots of the woman's rights movement. The premise being that woman could not attain equality with men unless they had the right not to be pregnant. Pregnancy automatically puts woman out of the running in the pursuit of money and power. Their had to be a remedy for that if woman (according to the radical roots of the movement) were to overcome their servitude to men. That is why the right of privacy of woman in their own body was pulled from the constitution like a rabbit out of a magicians hat. Their is no right to end a new life but it was manufactured in the struggle to make woman equal to men.
