blake - in response to your questions:

To my memory there was no discussion of Chromatics and Cirrus, beyond what is already published in the RMBS 1998 Annual Report.

Deferred revenues refers to the "unused portion" of contract revenues, which Rambus spreads out over several years. (In my view, this conservative and rational accounting approach is a sign both of management's integrity and the fact that the company has plenty of cash).

I don't know the answers to questions 4 and 5. But with regard to 5, it is inconceivable to me that a company like Rambus, and in Rambus' situation would talk about anything that is "in the works".

I know this is of limited help to you, but I did want to respond.
