IBM deal is a way for law firms to use the notebook without the substantial commitment of supporting Notes inhouse. It is not a Y2K play and Docucon is not a Y2K play and anyone who knows anything about Notes would realize that. Litigator's Notebook is a groupware approach to case and trial preparation only. I was at NY Legal Tech last week where Docucon announced the IBM link. The advantage to the approach is that it permits smaller law firms to use the system as well as others to use the Notebook while they decide whether or not to make a firm-wide commitment. Notes is a nice product but many MIS directors in law firms do not want the responsibility of supporting the product, especially since most firms are or are moving to MS-only environments.
