It is irrational to think that the medal can help me when I take a test- in any way other than to calm me- as Cobalt suggested. And it was more to me than just a calming device. I think I can tell when I am being irrational (at least I can tell this some of the time, and especially at a temporal distance). I think it is irrational to imbue an object with the essence of my father. What is left of my father is in my head- why should an object be important?
