Paul Lee: "And then again think if you still held those that you sold at 12"

True, but I margined to buy at the 12.5 level and did not want to stay margined long. Besides, I bought a boatful of stock last fall and wanted tax offsets for some of my gains so I wrote off my losers-- LSI was one at the time.

Wolf2: "We overtaxed Canadians would have to average the purchase price of both lots to arrive at the acquisition cost (so if you bought as many shares again at 12.5 as you had at say 22, your average acquisition would be 17.25) for tax loss selling purposes."

We overtaxed Americans would have to do the same if we sell a loser within 30 days of purchasing the same stock. This is why I waited 30 days to sell my losers. You're certainly welcome to move south (the beer's cheaper too).
