Dan - I'm the one who mentioned Vaseline. I still seem to remember having read about some kind of study, but still no luck recalling the details. Vaseline, or any other viscous substance (rubber cement comes to mind <g>), could establish a physical barrier between the virus and the nasal membrane, but a Vaseline-like substance impregnated with zinc would be able to interfere with the ability of any virus that was on the membrane BEFORE the substance was applied to bind with the receptor site. That's what the zinc in Cold-Eeze does from the "other side" (i.e. the bloodstream). It sounds to me like Zicam is, basically, that Vaseline-like substance impregnated with zinc. It may not be unique, just as there are oral zinc products other than Quigley's, but it seems to me that it should work. If it works even SOME of the time, millions of people will buy it. -Eric
