Yes, I gave it some thought and "design problem" might be the better term. Doesn't matter. What matters is the problem set them back a couple months and you got left holding on to your AMD while it dropped 40%. Katmai has already beaten K6-3 to market.
Too bad about the ID uproar. AMD should make up an advertisement with a family getting a barrage of cold calls at dinner time. The mother asks, where did you get our name? Caller sez, you have a Pentium III computer.
