From the bureau of redundancy department:

Press releases often announce that one company has "entered into" a strategic alliance with another. Does this expression bug anyone else, or am I riding my hobby-horse again. ;-}

While I am at it, is a "strategic alliance" correctly defined as a non-binding relationship with no empirically measurable benefit to either company, but out of which one or both gain PR mileage?

Perhaps I am being excessively cynical, but I've always thought it a shaky sign when a company announces "strategic relationships" as opposed to contracts.
