AMD - morning Crimson. AMD in talks with Gateway to provide K-6 chipset in computers instead of Intel. AMD at a great price.

10% movement today $25 within a week. Steady growth to $40 by midsummer.

News is better than I thought. Compaq also onboard.

NEW YORK, Feb 1 (Reuters) - Gateway Inc. <GTW.N>, the second biggest direct seller of personal computers in the United States, is preparing to introduce a new line of PCs powered by a new chip from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. rather than the latest chip from Intel Corp. <INTC.O>, according to PC Week Online.

Gateway has been evaluating the AMD chip -- the K6-3 -- for some time and will use it in the new line being rolled out in March, PC Week Online said, citing unnamed sources. The move will allow it to offer the computers at much lower prices than it could using a Intel chips.

Compaq Computer Corp <CPQ.N> has also begun shipping a PC line using AMD chips.
