Globe says OSC suspends trading on DiamondWorks

DiamondWorks Ltd DMW
Shares issued 95,490,979 Jan 28 close $0.30
Mon 1 Feb 99 In the News
The Globe and Mail reports in its Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 edition that the
Ontario Securities Commission Friday issued a cease trade order in the
shares of DiamondWorks following an unusual runup in the Vancouver
company's stock price. The Globe's Peter Kennedy and Allan Robinson write
that the OSC says it imposed the order "pending clarification of the
affairs of the company." The OSC says the action was taken because of a
"confidential disclosure" DiamondWorks made to the OSC. The 15-day OSC
cease trade, which came late in the day, followed a temporary halt put on
the shares at the outset of the day's trading by the Toronto Stock
Exchange. Neither the OSC nor the company would say if the order is
connected to rumoured positive developments related to a recent hostage
taking at the company's Angola mine. DiamondWorks did say however the
undisclosed news was not bad news.
