It looks like SIII now has a somewhat decent chip, and they are announcing a Diamond design win for a mid-range product (with, in theory, better-than-TNT performance), although it will take some time to ship. It looks like this could hurt NVIDIA somewhat, or at least prevent them from owning the entire merchant market for chips for mid-to-high-end add-in cards. The TNT2 product still looks well-positioned for the high-end though. Is the TNT2 a delayed product?

The problem for NVIDIA seems to be that when they release a new high-end chip, sales for their previous generation chip completely evaporate. This happened in during the transition from RIVA 128(ZX) to TNT. Will it happen again with TNT2? We haven't heard anything about the "Vanta" the initiative targeted at PC OEMs.
