* First In-System Programmable (ISP) 3.3V PLD Family * 10ns, 80MHz ispLSI 2032LV Provides True 3.3V Operation
HILLSBORO, Ore., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Lattice Semiconductor Corporation(R) (Nasdaq: LSCC) today announced the production release of the first member of its new high-performance, low-voltage ispLSI(R) 2000LV high-density ISP (In-System Programmable) PLD family, the ispLSI 2032LV. The 1,000 gate, 44-pin ispLSI 2032LV represents one of four new high-performance E2CMOS(R) PLDs which will give designers a comprehensive set of 3.3V devices to choose from. The remainder of the ispLSI 2000LV family includes the 2,000 gate 100-pin 2064LV, the 4,000 gate 128-pin 2096LV and the 6,000 gate 176-pin 2128LV. The ispLSI 2000LV family is the first 3.3V family of ISP devices made available by any manufacturer.
With density ranging from 1,000 to 6,000 PLD gates and 10ns (Tpd), 80MHz (Fmax) operating speeds, the 2000LV family is the newest solution for complex low-voltage logic designs. These new devices all feature the same architectures currently available with Lattice's 5V ispLSI 2000 family devices. In addition to density and speed, the 2000LV family has the ability to accept mixed 3.3V/5V or pure 3.3V I/O signals allowing it to support systems transitioning from 5 Volt to 3 Volt operation. The 2000LV family is Lattice Semiconductor's first 3.3V In-System Programmable product family. These devices can be reprogrammed while soldered on the pc-board, eliminating pre-board assembly programming steps. Lattice's In-System Programmable products have become the choice preferred by high-density PLD users.
"To keep up with the operating frequencies of today's 3.3V microprocessors and memories, high-performance 3.3V logic is required," stated Stan Kopec, Lattice Semiconductor's director of corporate marketing. "Lattice's new ispLSI 2032LV gives a designer not only high-performance 3.3V logic but also the benefits of In-System Programmable technology. The ispLSI 2032LV is the first in a series of high-density, 3.3V ISP PLDs to be introduced by Lattice Semiconductor. With the introduction of the ispLSI 2032LV, designers can now choose from Lattice's comprehensive 3.3V low-density GAL(R) or ispLSI families -- providing one stop shopping from the leader in high-performance 3.3V PLDs."
The ispLSI 2032LV features an industry-leading 10 nanosecond (ns) logic propagation delay (Tpd) and an 80 MHz operating frequency (Fmax), making it the fastest 3.3V high-density PLD available today. The 32-macrocell device is packaged in both 44-Pin PLCC and space-saving 44-Pin TQFP packages. The ispLSI 2032LV is also architecture- and JEDEC-compatible with Lattice's 5V 2032 device. Like all of Lattice's 2000LV family members, the 2032LV supports both 3.3V and 5V I/O logic signals and consumes less than two-thirds of the power of its 5V counterpart.
The ispLSI 2032LV is supported by a broad range of design tools including Lattice's proprietary PC-based pDS(R) software as well as third-party software on both PC and workstation platforms. Lattice's pDS+(TM) Fitters support logic design in a wide variety of design environments including Cadence, Data I/O, Synario, ISDATA, Mentor Graphics, OrCAD, Synopsys, Exemplar and Viewlogic. In-system programming software and tools are offered by Lattice for the ispLSI 2032LV. Lattice's ISP Turbo Download software downloads device configurations for up to 30 devices to be programmed concurrently in a single programming chain. Programming of all devices in the chain is accomplished in the time it takes to program a single device. Lattice's ispATE(TM) software supports in-system programming of the ISP devices on automatic test equipment (ATE) from vendors such as Teradyne, HP and GenRAD.
Price and Availability The in-system programmable ispLSI and traditionally programmed pLSI. 2032LV are available immediately in 44-pin plastic-leaded chip carrier (PLCC) and 44-pin thin-quad flat-pack (TQFP) packages. Pricing for the devices in 1000 piece quantities is as follows:
Device Package Type Speed (Tpd) 1000 Piece Price ispLSI 2032LV-80LJ 44-Pin PLCC 10 ns $14.80 ispLSI 2032LV-80LT44 44-Pin TQFP 10 ns $15.30 ispLSI 2032LV-60LJ 44-Pin PLCC 15 ns $9.90 ispLSI 2032LV-60LT44 44-Pin TQFP 15 ns $10.40
Production quantities and pricing for the 64-macrocell ispLSI 064LV, 96-macrocell ispLSI 2096LV and 128-macrocell ispLSI 2128LV will be released in the second half of 1996.
