I'm not advocating that the government helps the less fortunate be on the same
footing as the capitalist pigs! but we don't live in a laissez faire society - we have a
mixed economy - much as some people seem to pretend otherwise - look at Lott
for example falling over himself to 'save Social Security' - it's a sacred cow. The
whole concept of income tax involves a re-distribution of income.
So are you advocating laissez faire? As for income tax, I am for a really flat tax, not a fixed percent but a fixed amount. Everyone should pay $3000.00 /year period. I don't get any more services from my government, why should I pay more? I also believe we should have free education, that is a great role for government. I also believe the total cost of civil court cases be paid by the losers.
